South Park Bridge - Under Budget
There's some good news for the nearly 20,000 drivers who used to cross the South Park Bridge every day.
The Seattle Times reports that the lowest bid to rebuild the bridge came in $11 million under budget at $96 million.
King County expects to award the contract within a month and begin construction in May. The closure of the 79-year-old span forced nearly 20,000 drivers a day to take a detour.
The Department of Transportation says the bridge is unsafe, having suffered through three earthquakes.
